bio
In October of 2022, Clara Lars released her debut EP, Illusions, at just 16 years old. Illusions was a fine introduction for Lars, who co-produced many of her recordings with Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House, TV on the Radio, Future Islands). Lars followed up her EP with the release of her single “Nobody’s Tired,” and around a year later, she released “Better,” co-produced with Kieron Menzies (Lana Del Rey, FKA twigs, Dua Lipa). Her next release was “This Time,” which delves into the shifting power dynamics of a complicated relationship. The song blends lush and dreamy vocals with electronic influences, and was co-produced by Lars and Grammy-winning producer Tim Sonnefeld (Usher, Elvis Costello).
Born in Brooklyn and raised there until she was 10, Clara recently moved back to her native New York City to pursue a BFA in recorded music. Her latest release, “What I Wanted,” explores the idea of escapism through a detailed runaway narrative, balancing nostalgia for a past relationship with the peace that comes from choosing to let it go. The song, produced by Lars and Menzies, maintains a captivating alt-pop sound while also heavily incorporating electronic synth elements. Her new music is, in every way, an indication that Clara Lars is just getting started.
